For a long time now I’ve been meaning to do a blog roundup as I haven’t done one for a seriously long time! So here is the first edition of the new Bulldog’s posts of the week which includes five posts that caught my eye this week.

There seems to be a growing trend these days for the millionaires and billionaires of the world not to pass on their wealth to their children but to instead give away their huge wealth in a philanthropic effort. While this is very admirable it does throw up an interesting question, how would you feel if you were the child of one of these rich people? A child who would have otherwise been the recipient of this immense wealth?

We’ve all heard of the phrase ‘The grass is always greener’, haven’t we? Well I suppose when it comes to the thought of countryside living it probably is, at least it is if we are talking in literal terms. I currently live in a smallish town on the edge of the countryside. I like to think it gives me everything I could want, a happy medium where I still have easy access to shops and schools, while at the same time being close enough to the hills to enjoy the lovely surroundings of the open countryside.

In some ways my last day of high school seems as if it was only yesterday and in other ways it feels like an eternity has passed. On that day I remember thinking that the days of relentless learning in a classroom were finally over; little did I know that in reality the days of learning were only just beginning. I don’t think we ever really stop learning in life and when you think about it we shouldn’t, the world is constantly changing and moving forward and if we remain static then there’s a chance that at some point we’ll get left in the shadows.

I have something a little bit different for you today so I hope you don’t mind me going a little bit off topic but I just thought my fellow bloggers out there might find this interesting. I came across a story yesterday about a blogger who wrote a review of a French restaurant, a review which managed to land her with a hefty fine and a visit to a French court, why? Simply because her post was ranking too well in Google’s search engine results.
