Flirting With a Mistress

What’s this all about I hear you say?? Well don’t worry it’s not what you think. Mrs.B and I are still going strong and I think she’ll be having a few words with me for even joking about having a mistress in the title! I do still feel like I’m cheating on my first love though, online love that is. Money Bulldog now has a sister site which you can find at MoneyRebound.com! Maybe I shouldn’t have said sister, this is just getting weirder!

It’s been about a year since I first set up Money Bulldog and time has really flown. In that time I’ve taken a course in accounting, sold a house, moved house and now we’re moving again. During all this I’ve also been writing posts for Money Bulldog (some of which I hope have been useful) and embarking on the huge learning curve that is personal finance blogging.

When I started Money Bulldog I really didn’t have a clue what I was doing, I was just making it up as I went along. After 12 months of blogging and interacting with so many other amazing personal finance bloggers though, I finally feel ready to take the plunge and take on another project. I know in the past few weeks I’ve been complaining about my lack of time but a few of the time commitments which I’ve been juggling around for months are soon coming to an end and Mrs.B has finally given me permission to branch out and add a .com to my blog repertoire.

How Good are you at Juggling?

Well the weekend has arrived again and what a week it’s been. I’ve signed up to rent a house over the other side of the country (Which is sort of what my future fear post was all about), I also passed another accounting exam leaving just 2 left to pass and I’ll finally have that other string to my bow and all this whilst doing my best to optimize my blog, run a business and be a dad! The madness has meant that I’ve been a little quiet when it comes to commenting on and sharing other blog posts this week, I hope you can forgive me.

I feel like things have really taken their toll this week and it’s got me to wondering , What do all the other part time bloggers out there have going on in their lives and are they better at juggling things than I am or do they also feel the heat at times?

I’m usually the sort of person who becomes very obsessive about whatever I’m doing, giving it my all. So when I hit these points where I seem to be juggling 50 different things and just scraping by on most of them I really don’t like it but then I guess life is just like that sometimes. Hopefully once the impending move is out of the way (3 weeks to go) and the remaining exams are over things can return to some kind of normality, if there is such a thing!

Job Interview Tips!

Job interviews can be one of the most nerve wracking yet important events in a persons life. How you perform and the impression you give during this short period of time could secure your life financially for years to come. So with hundreds if not thousands of applications going in for the same job, if you’ve been fortunate enough to reach the interview stage what can you do to set yourself above the competition and secure that new job?

Who Holds the Stronger Hand, Cyprus or the EU?

As I write this post a truly do or die meeting is taking place in Brussels to decide the financial fate of Cyprus and also its place within the Eurozone. With the rejection by Cypriot ministers of the initial bailout package (with much duress from the Cypriot people) and the farcical events that followed of bank withdrawal limitations and the return of Euro fear on the financial markets you have to wonder who really holds the stronger hand in this poker game between Cyprus and the EU?

At the beginning of the week after the Cypriot parliament rejected the terms of an initial bailout deal which, as you will likely know by now, included a levy on bank deposits of not only the savings of the financially well off but also the accounts of ordinary savers, it seemed that Cyprus had heroically stood up to the authorities in Brussels and retained their national pride. At that time it also seemed as though Cyprus had other options on the table. The government of Cyprus immediately went to the Russians to attempt to lure in some investment but to no avail. Then it appeared that other institutions in Cyprus might be willing to offer up the 6 Billion Euros that Cyprus so desperately needed, but again nothing conclusive was able to be finalised. All these efforts are now being put before EU ministers in last ditch talks to save the Cypriot economy but does Cyprus have anything to offer or will the size of its tiny economy ultimately make it dispensable to the Eurozone Project?

The Euro Crisis & Bankers Bonuses ~ Dejavu Anyone?

Well Friday has arrived again and it really has been an eventful week in the world of finance, at the same time though not an original one. This week many of the financial problems of 2012 that investors thought were dead and buried, seem to have reared their ugly head once more.

The Euro Crisis

Most of the people in the European Union and in the stock markets were probably hoping that they’d seen the back of the Euro Crisis by now but this week quickly brought them back down to earth. Personally I’m amazed that the fear ever went away as nothing has really changed in the Eurozone. Eurozone economies are still not growing, the debt of Eurozone countries remains the same and the people who live in those countries aren’t exactly on board with austerity.

The only thing that calmed the markets down on the Euro was a promise from the ECB that it would buy unlimited amounts of Spanish and Italian bonds to keep bond yields down should the need arise. I wonder if they’re regretting that decision as they see Italian bond yields rise and the Italian people reject austerity.
