Checkmyfile Review – The UK’s only multi agency credit report
LINKS MARKED * ARE AFFILIATE LINKS.
Checkmyfile are currently the UK’s only Multi Agency Credit Report service. With this in mind I thought it was a good idea to do a Checkmyfile review post. So here it is, our Checkmyfile review!
There are many different reasons for wanting to keep an eye on your current credit rating and viewing your credit history.
For example, you might have had some issues in the past with paying back some loans or credit cards and be on the road to recovery just now.
Or, you may be looking to get the best mortgage deal available or to get a loan to consolidate existing debts.
Even if you have never had any credit problems in the past, you will still want to be sure that your credit rating reflects this and that everything keeps ticking along smoothly. Doing this will allow you to choose from the widest possible range of different types of finance in the future if you choose to do so.
So, how do Checkmyfile measure up to some of the free credit reference agencies around these days like TotallyMoney*? Let’s find out.
Why Checkmyfile?
One of the problems commonly associated with checking out your credit history is that the information given isn’t always easy to understand and isn’t always all that detailed.
Also, you might see a decent credit score but someone else who does a search on you might see something completely different because they used another credit agency.
Here at Money Bulldog we have always encouraged our readers to get a copy of their credit report from each of the major credit reference agencies, to ensure that they are not holding conflicting or incorrect information.
With Checkmyfile though, you don’t have to do that. When you sign up for a free trial with Checkmyfile, you will easily be able to see credit scores and information from all 3 of these credit reference agencies. These being Experian, Equifax and Call Credit.
The service offered by Checkmyfile aims to make it easier for people to fully understand their credit report going forward, as well as giving them a comprehensive view of what other people can see about their financial history.
What Do Checkmyfile Offer?
The main benefit to this service is that you can use it to access a lot more information.
In fact, they state that by using them you can see twice as much information as you would be using any other UK credit report.
This is very important if you want to perform a full financial audit of your own situation to see where you stand, without leaving any stone unturned.
Checkmyfile is classed as the country’s only multi agency credit report and you get access to 4 different credit scores, so you can see how your figures look according to the type of person who is searching for you.
Of course, with so much data on the reports, you might worry about being able to understand it all. The good news in this respect is that you get some very easy to read reports.
For example, there is a smart little graph which lets you see at a glance how you stand. You can also see your payments history over the last 6 years and check whether any court judgements have been registered against you and if they are due to fall off the system and stop affecting you anytime soon.
Other Features
One of the interesting additional features of this service is the fact that there is a section of the report dedicated to helping you spot identity theft.
These are provided by 2 different credit reference agencies and could be something which gives a great deal of peace of mind to anyone who is worried about being affected by this crime.
If you do discover something worrying in this section then Checkmyfile will work with you to to provide advice on how to resolve the issue and stay protected.
The ability to see details of other people you might be unknowingly financially associated with – people that might well affect your own credit score or report – is also a big plus which could be of interest to a lot of people.
The Cost
Anyone who feels that getting a more comprehensive credit report seems like a good idea but isn’t 100% convinced by it can give the service a try for free.
The free trial offer currently up for grabs runs for 30 days and should give you more than enough time to work out whether it is something which helps you keep track of your financial life.
After this, there is an ongoing monthly cost of £14.99 a month. You can cancel it at anytime you like in the future.
Of course, there are many companies who offer a completely free credit report with no ongoing cost – such as TotallyMoney*.
If you are interested in keeping track of your credit score from multiple agencies, though, then Checkmyfile is a service which seems well worth checking out.
Good info… Thank you…
I signed up to checkmyfile after reading this review. I found out that an account was showing on file that should have been removed.
I phoned checkmyfile (FREEPHONE number) and they told me exactly what I needed to do. I stayed with them for a further month, after which the issue was fixed 🙂
I then phoned up to cancel and got straight through again. Phone call lasted no longer than 30 seconds and all cancelled without ANY fuss!
Amazing!
Sounds like you had a really positive experience David. That’s good to know
