I have a bit of a dilemma and I’m hoping you can all help me out! In recent weeks I’ve seen a trend emerging in the Personal Finance Blogosphere. It’s a trend that might have been around for a while and one I’m only just picking up on but it’s presenting me with a bit of a problem because it involves my wife!

As I’ve been doing my usual weekly rounds reading some fantastic blog posts from a few of my blogger friends, I’ve been noticing that their wives all seem to have developed blog synonyms! We have Mrs CBB, Mrs Frugal Rules, Mrs WSL and this has all presented me with a bit of a dilemma, What Do I Call My Wife?

The obvious one that comes to mind is Mrs Bulldog but that sounds a little more than harsh doesn’t it? I mean yes she has a few dominant personality traits and has also been known to bite but Mrs Bulldog still doesn’t have a great ring to it. She seems keen on Mrs Money but is that a little generic and would some people confuse her with a Bond character? In fact maybe Mrs MoneyPenny wouldn’t be bad?

Anyway I’m getting a little sick of saying ‘My wife and I’ so maybe you can help me come up with a more appropriate synonym than Mrs Bulldog!

Well I had a big long business related post written up for today but if you feel anywhere near as tired as I do then I think you’ll agree something a little less mentally taxing is in order! Fortunately I read a great post today by Jason over at Work Save Live which reminded me of a conversation I once had with my Dad about technology. In Jason’s post he related a story about a group of kids who were sent on a camping trip together but weren’t allowed to take any technology along with them, no easy task for the kids of today!

Like most people reading the post I was expecting a story that showed how when technology is taken away from kids they become more interactive, loving, well mannered and more importantly happier kids! Was that the case? Unfortunately not. What actually happened is that once the technology had been taken away from these kids, they suddenly began to think a lot more about the problems in their life, in their home situation and with their peers. As I’ve said already this story reminded me of a conversation I once had with my Dad about the effects of technology on our lives.

Every day we all work hard to achieve the best we can in life. You may work hard in your job or be striving to build a successful business, you might be trying to provide a stable and secure upbringing for your children or you could even be trying to excel in a certain hobby or sport. Whatever you’re looking to achieve in life you will almost always reach a point in your journey when you ask yourself ‘Why do I bother?’

It’s not that you don’t care anymore and it’s not that you’re thinking of quitting, it’s just that from time to time the stress and pressure of life can get the better of you. If you’ve ever hit that low point it’s probably because you’re feeling a lack of recognition for the effort you’re putting in. Whether you’re a worker, an entrepreneur, a mother, a father, an artist or even a child looking to make your parents proud, we all need some sort of recognition for the effort we put into our endeavors.

This recognition can come in many forms. It may be a pat on the back from your boss, positive feedback from a satisfied client, a bunch of flowers from your partner, a homemade card from your kids or a simple declaration of love.

Everyone seems to be looking to save money at the moment. We switch our utility suppliers, cut back on our mobile phone and cable bills and some of us even try growing our own vegetables. One of the best ways we can save money though is often ignored and that is to stop spending so much of our hard earned cash on the little things, The Insignificants!

The Insignificants are all those little treats and tit-bits most of us spend our money on every day like coffee, sandwiches, sweets, chocolate, fizzy drinks, magazines, take away food and the list goes on! We spend so little on each purchase that it doesn’t even feel like we’re spending at all.

Yey The Snow’s Here!

All I’ve heard this week is that UK councils have been stockpiling rock salt in preparation for any snowfall we might get this winter. Well it’s no good stockpiling rock salt for the winter if you don’t put it out on the road guys!

I love snow and I can’t wait to take the kids out in it tomorrow, but like most other UK families I’ll likely be spending more time indoors this weekend than I usually would. With that in mind here are 10 Personal Finance posts to keep you entertained!
